IN THIS GENERATION, DOES MARRIAGE MATTER?
IN THIS GENERATION. DOES MARRIAGE MATTER?
Marriage is the building block of families. Families are the building blocks of communities. Communities are the building blocks of society. When marriages and families break down, so do communities and ultimately society and civilization as a whole. We've seen this pattern before, and we're witnessing it again as this bedrock of society increasingly crumbles.
As Jesus Christ Himself said: "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate" (Matthew 19:4-6; quoting Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:24).
This is how God designed marriage, when we reject or redefine this pattern, we reap the tragic consequences. Never let yourself be lulled into thinking that marriage doesn't matter! Remember what happened to the people of Sodom an Gomorrah when they tried to change God’s plan of marriage.
Marriage matter in this generation as before. Marriage helps us do God’s work better and helps us build relationships with other people.

Don’t Let Bitterness Poison Your Marriage
The Bible says in Hebrews 12, “Make every effort to live in peace with all men (which would include your spouse) and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”
But what do you do when your spouse hurts you so deeply that you find a bitter root developing within, despite your every effort, and the fact that you know it can hurt more than it can help?
Someone once said, “Bitterness is an acid that hurts more the object in which it’s stored than the object on which it is poured.” You may not want to take it in, but you find yourself taking it in anyway.
The following are a few thoughts for you to consider:
• “When others (including our spouse) hurts us in ways we don’t deserve, at some point we will come to the crossroads of decision. We will have to look our pain square in the face and ask, ‘Am I going to hang on to my anger and do violence to myself, or am I going to forgive those who have wounded me? Am I going to allow bitterness to poison and putrefy my soul, or am I going to invite God to empower me to let the anger go?
• The choices we make form the rudder that directs our marriage journey. Good choices keep us sailing smoothly in the right direction. Bad choices steer us toward the rocks. And every day in marriage, choices are made that keep couples headed where they want to go or lead them to places that they dread.
• “Listen to these words: ‘We stand at the crossroads, each minute, each hour, each day, making choices. We choose the thoughts we allow ourselves to think, the passions we allow ourselves to feel, and the actions we allow ourselves to perform. Each choice is made in the context of whatever value system we’ve selected to govern our lives. In selecting that value system, we are, in a very real way, making the most important choice we will ever make.’ Benjamin Franklin said this, and his words have more wisdom for married couples than he probably ever knew.”
Keep in mind that:
In order to thrive, bitterness averts its gaze from God’s grace and mercy, focusing instead on the multitude of ways He and people we’ve counted on have let us down.
There probably isn’t any of us would want to choose to hold onto bitterness. But how do you make a different “choice?”
To help you with this, we would like to recommend that you read books from other marriage teachers, study the bible and always remember to pray for yourself and your spouse for God’s help.
Hopefully, these things, along with what you can read in the Bible, and other articles you can read on marriage from other writers, and most importantly, working through all of this with our Wonderful Counselor, the Holy Spirit, you can better release whatever bitterness you are struggling with.
Maybe you can pray the following is a prayer, God
“Help me not to hold myself apart from [my spouse] emotionally, mentally, or physically because of unforgiveness. Where either of us needs to ask forgiveness of the other, help us to do so. If there is something I’m not seeing that is adding to this problem, reveal it to me and help me to understand it. Remove any wedge of confusion that has created misunderstanding or miscommunication.
Where there is behavior that needs to change in either of us, I pray You would enable that change to happen. As much as I want to hang on to my anger toward [my spouse] because I feel it is justified, I want to do what You want. I release all those feelings to You. Give me a renewed sense of love for him and words to heal this situation.”
“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.”
(Psalm 139:23-24)
“Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths;
guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.”
(Psalm 25:4-5)

FAITH COMETH BY HEARING
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is
heard through the word of Christ
Romans 10:17
For years; I have discovered that without faith we cannot make progress
in real life as Christians. We have one main adversary-the devil. He
works through all sort of things with diverse gimmicks. The key to
overcome is the faith we have in the WORD, HIS Word.
When you first heard the Word of God, you received faith from God.
Sadly many Christians are struggling with lack of faith. Why is this?
I believe that it is because they have allowed tradition to steal
their faith.
Matthew 6:30 says, “If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not
much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”
Tradition steals faith in three ways—first, tradition takes doubt and
produces unbelief. Second, tradition nullifies the Word of God,
because it trivializes the power of Satan and causes believers to be
ignorant of their own power in Christ Jesus. Third, tradition steals
your faith and hope which causes barrenness in every season.
In order to reclaim what is rightfully yours you must do it in faith.
John 8:54 says, “Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means
nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who
glorifies me.” You have to know the Word of God, believe the Word of
God, apply the Word of God, stand on the Word of God and fight with
the Word of God in FAITH.
The challenge I have for you this day is- if devil failed to stop your
mouth from accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; he cannot
stop your faith from growing except you allow him. Therefore stir up
your faith today and go forward in Jesus Christ name.
You shall never be limited again at all. Give Him praise.
Have a blessed reading.

THE MISSING LINK TO A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE
THE MISSING LINK TO A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE
The institution at marriage has been said to be thorny by some, but those who have been there and enjoyed it tell a different story. Happiness in marriage does not automatically come because you and your partner love each other. It comes because you make an effort to keep the fire burning
For the fire to burn continuously we have to go back to the basics and apply the principles which govern the institution. We also need to allow the maker of this beautiful gift of marriage teach us how it works
The designer of things in the world, it is a must that they put a manual showing us how to use those things bet it radio, TV, auto- mobile etc
Take the example as a car, He will show you the things to it, oil and fuels. Each car has a specific type of fuel and Oil to run it. For example you can’t put in a petro engine Oils that run a diesel engine or fuel. You can’t put any type of liquid.
In the same way God as the designer of marriage supplied which it a manual the Bible and the fuel to run it the Holy Spirit for us to have a successful marriage, we need to link and have the proper fuel to run the marriage.
Let us see what the Bible says:-
Colossians 3:17
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:23.
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
The Bible is saying whatever we do not in some it the things we do. This include marriage, to do everything well and perfect, we need special energy to do all things. See what Jesus said:
Act 1:8a
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
Power to do what? Power of love, forgive, to be peaceful, to have joy and many other things. We can’t do all that in our human nature to other people more so our spouse unless we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us. Take a few second and see what Jesus had to say.
John 14:26
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 15:26
26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
John 16:5-14
5 “But now I go away to Him who sent me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify me, for He will take of what is mine and declare it to you.
When we allow the spirit, He is able to teach us many things about marriage, will b e able to constant us when things are not working the way we want them to work.
Why do you think we need to allow the Holy Spirit in our marriage?
First our marriage is a mystery
Ephesians 5:31-33
31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Second it only the Holy Spirit who can bear his fruits in u s. we can’t.
Galatians 5; 22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Third it is only the Holy Spirit who can help us love our spouse with no string s attached that is unselfishly
1Corithains 13; 4-6
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
Lastly, it is the Holy Spirit which can help us to use our mouth rig ht not to use it to hurt our spouses
Proverbs 15:1-2, 4, 23.
1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. 23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
So the Holy Spirit is the missing link to a successful marriage. Before we point a finger to our spouse, first look at yourself to see if you have allowed the Holy Spirit to work in your life look closely to see if this TREE called the Spirit is mature enough t o bear fruits in you.
Remember God delights in marriage
Proverbs 18; 22
22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
and obtains favor from the LORD.
And God is grieved if we don’t cherish this gift of marriage
Malachi 2:16
16 “For the LORD God of Israel says
That He hates divorce,
for it covers one’s garment with violence,”
Says the LORD of hosts.
“Therefore take heed to your spirit,
that you do not deal treacherously.”
I wish you the best as you allow the teaching of the Holy Spirit in your life for the better mind it your marriage.
Blessings
